Missions

Great churches give to great projects. Last year, Melbourne West Church gave a significant amount of its income to missions in Australia and overseas. The result of this has been many changed lives that would not have been touched otherwise.

Below are a number of these great missions.

Destiny Rescue

Destiny Rescue was founded in 2001 with a passion to making the world a place free from hunger, abuse and poverty. We do this by identifying children and families in desperate need and empowering them to change the world around them.

We are based in Melbourne, Australia, with growing volunteer networks being established through the nation. Volunteers have successfully been fundraising and finding sponsors and in some cases come on pioneer teams for both short term and long term postings.

Since Destiny Rescue was established it has been our goal to send 100% of child sponsorship funds overseas to help the children and families within our programs. All administration costs are raised separately to child sponsorship funds – this is something we have and are continuing to achieve!! Already we have projects in Cambodia, India, Mozambique and Thailand, with the goal of, in the coming years, having new projects running in all third world and developing nations as funding continues to increase.

Latest Update From Destiny Rescue

Just wanted to drop you a quick line to catch up, let you know what has been happening in our lives, and to tell you how much you are appreciated!

The work in all countries has been growing in recent times – much of it just out of necessity, not because we were necessarily out looking to grow the work. We have a new girl’s home in India, a new children’s home here in Thailand and the trafficked children’s home in Cambodia now has five precious girls, with another five just about to come in. All the girls have their own horrific stories.

At times, when looking at the money coming in, and the money going out to fund all the different projects, mild panic threatened to set in. But we have been truly blown away time and time again with God’s provision and His perfect timing. As we have just stood, knowing that this is God’s work, and having faith that He will supply all our needs, the funds have flowed in. We definitely serve an awesome God.

Tony, myself and the girls are heading back to Australia at the end of September. We will head back to Thailand in early January. We hope to catch up with you precious people while we are back in Australia. We truly appreciate your support.

Vietnam Outreach

Ralph Parker, an Australian by birth and his Vietnamese born wife Linda, founded Vietnam Outreach in 1987.

Initially they helped orphans with Vietnam Outreach opening it’s own orphanage.

The work quickly grew to include health care development as the Lord released enormous volumes of medical supplies and equipment.

Soon the ministry had assembled a team of Christian medical professionals. They came from several countries and commenced providing substantial training in many areas of health care in conjunction with Vietnam’s Ministry of Health.

The work continued to expand. The typhoons that plague Vietnam saw the launch of disaster relief efforts feeding tens of thousands.

The plight of thousands of handicapped children in Vietnam saw a project initiated to provide free surgery.

Recently the ministry has expanded yet again with a micro development program, giving financial grants to rural families crushed by poverty.

Since 1987 the ministry has continued to fulfil it’s Isaiah 61 calling.

Wycliffe Bible Translators, COC Thailand, Light FM, Australian Christian Lobby, Global Care, Creation Ministries International (formerly Answers In Genesis), Bible Society, COC Care, Christian Heritage College, Outback Evangelism.
