Carols in The Avenue 2006
Melbourne West Church had been involved in running previous Carols events with F.O.T.A. but this year F.O.T.A. pulled out leaving us the opportunity to stage the whole event. Afternoon entertainment consisted of: Mrs. Ballonatic and Pirate Pete, a jumping castle, lolly scramble, face painting and a free sausage sizzle! The Melbourne West Church band then led over 400+ people in singing traditional as well as modern Christmas Carols. Pastor Larry Blackmore gave a short message on the true meaning of Christmas. Melbourne West Church would love to thank the local community for attending the event and also for their great behaviour. Melbourne West Church would also like to thank all of the church members who volunteered on the day, you are all awesome. Check out photos from the day in the Gallery. Praise Reports for October/November 2006K received a severe blow to the side of his head leaving him with a loss of hearing and a ringing in his ear. During his devotional time with God a few days later K prayed for his ear and instantly regained his hearing and the ringing was no longer a problem. Go God! C made a traumatic decision and asked Jesus to forgive her and come into her life. He did both. Asked “what would you like Jesus to do for you?’ The reply was ‘I’d just like to have a good week’; life hadn’t been too good lately. When asked the following week how her life was going she exclaimed with very real enthusiasm ‘I have had the very best week!’ Maybe not such a big deal to some, but to her it was a miracle - that’s Jesus for you. W had been suffering from a serious bout of gastro with all of its unpleasant side effects. A simple prayer of faith fixed that - that’s what God can do! Souls - since the beginning of October we have seen 2 people give their hearts and souls to Jesus Christ; the most amazing miracles of all are transformed lives. Praise Reports for August/September 2006M had just given his heart and soul to Jesus a few days before when his eye was injured by a splinter. This was causing extreme discomfort but did not stop M from reading more about Jesus. Upon completing the reading M shut his eyes to rest his lacerated eye when he felt something ‘zip’ across his injured eye. On opening his eyes he discovered he had been totally healed. Just like that. G had had a painful wrist for many months. Coming forward for prayer one Sunday morning she was completely healed of all pain. Easy for Jesus. C had been battling defeat and failure for what seemed like a life time. A very new Christian C said that during the preach she had felt like crying the whole time when suddenly a heavy weight just lifted off her shoulders and she knew she was free and whole. She has since been water baptized and life just continues to get better and better. God does that! G had suffered from arthritic pain for years, he was never free from it. On his first day at Melbourne West Church he responded to a ‘word of knowledge’ about a painful hip. He was prayed for and was instantly released of all pain; he thought that was pretty good. He has been free from it ever since. Only Jesus does that. Souls since the beginning of August we have seen 7 people give their hearts and souls to Jesus Christ; the most amazing miracles of all are transformed lives. We have baptized 8 people in that time as well. Congratulations to the ‘gatherers’ who have sown the seeds of faith and reaped a harvest of souls for the Kingdom of God. We salute you! Melbourne West Church launches!Sunday 6th of August 2006 saw the launch of Melbourne West Church in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria. Formerly known as Melbourne West Christian Outreach Centre, the rebranding day involved the revealing of all the new visual graphics as well as the new Vision and Purpose for the church. Senior Pastor Larry Blackmore told the church what Melbourne West Church's new cause was: "To see people transformed by Heaven's culture, progressing beyond their circumstances to outreach and impact their community for Christ." |
